Condo Grocery List: Ingredients You Should Always Have on Hand

Condominium cooking is arguably the greatest perk to staying in a condo. And to make it worthwhile, you’ll need to have the right goods on hand.

All you need is a couple of key ingredients in stock and you can pretty much make anything once you get your main entree, which will likely be meat or vegetables.

Most of these you can bring from your home pantry or you can go shopping while on vacation. Either way, here are the most versatile ingredients you should have in your condo:

Butter

Use for flavor, caramelizing or for non-stick surfaces.

Sugar (Cane or Brown)

When you need to add sweet.

Salt

When you need to add taste.

Pouring olive oil

Olive/Vegetable Oil

For multipurpose cooking and pan greasing.

Rice/Quinoa/Pasta

Can make savory side dishes or be part of a hearty meal.

Onions

Perhaps the ultimate flavor enhancer.

Bouillon Cubes 

You can use chicken, beef or vegetable, but chicken is the most versatile if you have to choose one. They can flavor anything from meats to soups to stir-fry.

Peanut Butter

Quick and easy source of protein. Spread or dip.

Potatoes

A versatile food you can mash, roast or add to your dish for texture.

Sirloin Steak with Cajun Spice Rub

Spices

Pick you favorites and use whenever you need a flavor boost: rosemary, basil, garlic, creole, cumin, chili, etc.

Honey

The everlasting sticky sweetness of honey has plenty of health benefits and usefulness in the kitchen.

Vinegar

You can use vinegar in a number of ways from cooking to cleaning.

Mayonnaise

Great topping for sandwiches and base for dressings.

Dijon Mustard

Same as mayo, but with a little more bite.

Baked Potato Loaded

Sour cream

Goes well with any Mexican dish and can be used in a number of recipes (mashed potatoes, Swedish meatballs)

Vanilla

Necessary for many desserts.

Baking PowderBaking SodaFlour, etc.

Baking is its own science, so your list may go far beyond this.

If you have most of these items in your pantry, you’re 90 percent of the way to a full meal. Just grab the meats, veggies, fruits and breads you want to assemble and enjoy home cooking in your condo!
