Global Discovery Vacations Review: Hilton Head Island

With more than 20 trips under her belt with Global Discovery Vacations, you could say that Betsey K. has a good perspective on what makes a good vacation destination. We were curious to find out what made Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, stand out so much, so we asked about her stay at Southwind II at Shipyard.
Global Discovery Vacations Review: Hilton Head Island

Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…

The Jazz Corner restaurant – the best meal we had in Hilton Head Island. Absolutely delicious and the Mardi Gras Jazz show we saw was phenomenal.

Coligny Plaza Shopping Center – shops and restaurants right at the beach.

Have fun/attractions
Take the one-hour drive to Savannah, Georgia, for a day trip.

What was your favorite…
Resort/Condo Amenity
Two rental bikes included in an attached shed at the condo.

Place to go in the destination
The beach, which was just a short bike ride away from the unit.

Why did you choose this destination? Were you traveling for a special occasion?
We usually travel the week after Christmas and had been to Hilton Head before. It was one of our “would love to go back” destinations.

What was your favorite memory of your vacation?
The quiet and beauty of Hilton Head. You have access to anything you could ever want but nature is all around.

Any tips for a traveler going to this resort or destination? Anything you think they should bring?
There are tons of great restaurants in Hilton Head. I use TripAdvisor to research where to eat. Bring your appetite for everything southern!

About you
The hubby and I travel several times a year including cruises, all-inclusive resorts and Global locations. We have two kids in college who still travel with us at least once a year for a family vacation.

How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member?
Ten years.

Why did you join the club?
For the opportunity to travel more often while saving money.

How many trips have you taken using your membership?
Twenty three.

Why do you think traveling is important?
My husband and I have worked opposite shifts for most of our marriage. Traveling is how we connect and rest up. It’s always awesome to go somewhere new and find the best a destination has to offer.
