Come on down to one of downtown Bethesda’s finest and coolest place to have a drink and get some very delicious hot appetizers and a great, affordable meal.  Markham’s Bar and Grill will be the toast of the town next week.

Located at 7141 Wisconsin Avenue in the heart of downtown Bethesda, Markham’s is a landmark pub for getting your groove on.  Thursday, February 13th will be a drinking for a cause evening.  The event is collecting money for Cystic fibrosis and Diabetes research.

A donation at the door will be supplying you with happy hour drink and food specials for the duration of the evening.  10% of proceeds from the register will also be going towards those organizations in order to help out in these challenging times.  The bar will be involved in supporting these charitable causes during the hours of 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. on the evening of February 13th.  Brian Lacey and Jon Lowe organized the event and will be bartending for the evening at Markham’s.

 According to the Washington Post online review of the establishment  written by Maura Judkis, “A Hot Shoppes hat-tip: The Markham's menu will honor the signature menu item from the beloved Hot Shoppes, according to the Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row blog. "The Mo" is a burger with a triple-decker bun, two burgers, shredded lettuce, dill pickle slices and "Mo Sauce." Hot Shoppes will be returning to D.C. in the new Marriott Marquis.”

Also, according to Judkis,  “ A food truck following: Owner Steve Markham is also behind the One3Five food truck in Bethesda, and he'll be serving up many of the items from his truck's menu in the new space -- like the banh mi and "turkeylicious," a turkey-cucumber-avocado-cranberry 'wich. He'll be joined in the kitchen by Billy Colliton, a former executive chef at the Arts Club of Washington.” Sounds quite refreshing, and with a lot of exotic appeal to the whole new menu being offered at Markham’s.

There will even be a bacon-duck burger on the menu.   The Markham’s vision of their future in the Bethesda community may be summed up as such;

“Markham’s Restaurant wishes to be a trusted member of the Bethesda Community and to aim towards a signature goal to sell delicious, homemade food and drink at fair prices always. The kitchen uses only quality ingredients to create well balanced, nutritious meals. Markham’s Bar & Grill consistently provides our customers with impeccable service by demonstrating warmth, graciousness, efficiency, knowledge, professionalism and integrity in our work and food. We maintain clean, comfortable and well-kept premises for our guests and staff. Thank you to all our future and regular guests for the opportunity to serve you”

They are starting out on the right foot by attempting to organize a charitable event to raise money and awareness of these dangerous diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis and Diabetes.  They are getting involved in neighborhood demands for such events while selling a wonderful social ideal and image to get them through their initiation phase as a new bar and grill in a saturated market with many other competitors in downtown Bethesda.   We applaud their enthusiasm.
