Where would you recommend a fellow member to go to…
There were several fast food restaurants in walking distance and Emeril Lagasse’s Delmonico Restaurant right across the street. We especially liked the VooDoo BBQ restaurant. They had sandwich specials on Tuesday and Thursday with great sides.
Don’t miss the famous Café Du Monde, serving beignets and café au lait.
The streetcar took you right to the edge of the French Quarter with the French Market, where there were many street vendors and antique shops.
Jackson Square is beautiful and is faced by the wonderful St. Louis Cathedral. There are horse-drawn carriage rides available on the square.

Other great attractions were the The National WWII Museum, within walking distance of our hotel, and Mardi Gras World. If gambling is your thing, Harrah’s has a big casino right at the edge of the French Quarter.
What was your favorite…
The Maison St. Charles is based on remodeled 1842 townhouses and new structures of matching architecture all centered around several courtyards with tropical vegetation. The daily breakfast bar was wonderful, with lots of variety, and was located in one of the 1842 buildings. There was also a pool and hot tub, so be sure to pack a bathing suit!
Why did you choose this destination? Were you traveling for a special occasion?
We were ready for a late winter vacation. We had an unused Vacation Week and had enjoyed previous trips to New Orleans.
What was your favorite memory of your vacation?
Our favorite memory from this visit was the street cars. We rode them everywhere – we never took our car out of the hotel parking lot. The over-65 fare is only 40 cents, including free transfers. Take it to the end of Canal Street to visit some of the famous above-ground cemeteries.
How long have you been a Global Discovery Vacations member?

Why do you think traveling is important?
We travel to escape the humdrum of daily life and to experience different places and give you a lot to discuss with other travelers.
