Snowshoe Mountain is located in the heart of West Virginia with an amazing mountain full of activities during the entire year.  It is about a four and a half hour drive through some of the most beautiful and scenic mountains that the East coast has to offer from Washington D.C.

Starting in D.C. we take the big I-66 to US 48 which takes us into West Virginia and the roads become smaller with very scenic backwoods mountain passes with small one lane roads.  US 48  to WV 28 South to WV 92 South to WV 66 West which will take us to Snowshoe drive and that is our access into the resort and mountain area.  Definitely bring a good quality map or GPS for the names of the smaller towns and the gas stations as you will probably have quite a distance between small towns on the route to the resort.

The Inn at Snowshoe is offering an incredible deal during the midweek with forty dollar a night hotel rooms. The Inn at Snowshoe has some great amenities, an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, an arcade and Brandi’s full service bar and restaurant plus a free shuttle to the slopes.  Many of the hotels are offering packages this time of year; the website has all the information.

The skiing available on Snowshoe Mountain offers some of the best terrain options and the best hotel packages with its close proximity to most of the locations on the East coast for the price. There are 251 acres of skiable terrain to explore and experience.  There are 57 trails within its 1500 vertical feet terrain.  There are three ski areas which include the snowshoe basin, the western territory and silver creek.  Beginner and intermediate trails make up 67% of the entire available terrain to ski on.  The black diamond slopes consist of 16% of the available terrain and double diamond slopes are 6% of the terrain.  Ski lift tickets range in price from the $59.00 value pass ticket available during special deals, to $79.00 daily lift tickets for the regular midweek price and $84.00 for a weekend day pass.

The Village at Snowshoe is truly an incredible arrangement.  Up where the skiing is an entire village has been built around the active part.  There are condominiums and hotels that are located within minutes to ski lifts and slope trails.  There are several restaurants and bars plus shopping, plus an entire full service spa is now available on the mountain, offering such services as Swedish massage, facials and body treatment options.

There are year round activities on the fun filled mountain with many activities especially for the rugged outdoor types and the entire family.  There is fishing and swimming and boating in the summertime.  There are many restaurants for the foodies that want to participate in an active West Virginia vacation.  There is tubing and water activities for the kids in the summer.  The fall brings amazing views in the foliage season of West Virginia and lots of countryside to see the colors.  There are markets and specialty stores for all your outdoor needs and outerwear for warmth on the village.
